Pulse News ("we", "our", "us") collects minimal information to provide our service. This includes: your selected news categories, preferred location (country and state/region), bookmarked articles, and app usage analytics. If you create an account or subscribe to Premium, we collect your email address and payment information (processed securely by our payment provider).
We use your information to: personalize your news feed based on your selected categories and location; save your bookmarks and preferences; send push notifications for breaking news and custom alerts (if enabled); process Premium subscription payments; improve our AI summarization and recommendation engine; and analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the app.
If you enable location services, we use your approximate location to show relevant local news (country and state level). We do not track precise GPS coordinates. You can manually set your location in settings instead.
We use the following third-party services: news API providers (NewsAPI, etc.) to aggregate content; OpenAI for AI-powered summaries; Firebase for push notifications and analytics; and payment processors for Premium subscriptions. Each operates under their own privacy policies.
Our free version includes minimal, non-intrusive native ads between news tiles (approximately one ad per 8-10 news items). We do not use pop-ups or full-screen ads. Premium subscribers see no ads. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers.
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Bookmarks and preferences are stored locally on your device and optionally synced to our servers if you create an account. We retain your data only as long as you use our service.
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and APPs, you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your data; opt out of marketing communications; and lodge a complaint with the OAIC.
Pulse News is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email.
